What is a library database and why would I want to use one?
A library database is a searchable electronic catalog or index that contains information about published items. Information contained in databases can range from scholarly journals, magazines, newspapers, books, and images. In general terms a database is an excellent resource for you to look for reputable resources, especially since this information is not available freely on the internet.
Use the library databases, listed below, to find articles in scholarly journals, magazines, newpapers, and books. The library subscribes to a wide range of full-text databases. If you would like instruction on how to use a particular database or to ask which one might best fit your needs please feel free to ask your librarian. Off Campus Access
To access the databases from off campus, use the home access usernames and passwords. When you click the link, it will ask for a password. Hint: Parkview’s mascot. (6 letters – all lowercase). Find your selected database in the list and use the password given.

With millions of articles available in both PDF and HTML full-text with no restrictions, researchers are able to find accurate information quickly. Includes full-text coverage of the New York Times back to 1985. Updated daily.
Gale Biography in Context is an engaging online experience for those seeking contextual information on the world’s most influential people. The new solution merges Gale’s authoritative reference content (including Lives & Perspectives) with periodicals and multimedia organized into a user-friendly portal experience while also allowing users to search for people based on name, occupation, nationality, ethnicity, birth/death dates and places, or gender as well as keyword and full text.
General OneFile provides access to periodical and news information on a diverse set of topics, including humanities, education, business, science, current events, art, politics, economics, social science, law, healthcare, computers, technology, environmental issues, and general interest topics. The full-text for some titles may be subject to publisher-imposed embargo periods.

Health & Wellness Resource Center provides a one stop, full-service resource for health-related research. It provides an integrated collection of general interest and fitness magazines, medical and professional periodicals, reference books and pamphlets. Records are available in a combination of indexing, abstracts or full text formats. Designed for nursing and allied health students, as well as consumer health researchers.
